DWP Partners in Science and Industry Summer 2008 Fellowship Program

In a successful partnership between the LAUSD, the LA DWP, and the Urban Education Partnership (UEP), 10 fellowships working in 7 DWP departments are to be announced after May 28th.

The UEP staff, working with LAUSD, DWP officials recieved over 45 applications for 10 fellows by the May 23, 208 deadline. Applications were reviewed and scored on May 28th. Areas for the fellowships are: Renewable Energy and Solar Rebate Program; Power System Engineering (Design) Services;  Educations Services and Outreach; and Water Quality. Each fellow will work for six weeks at $1000 per week to connect industry and education. Teachers will develop lessons and bring the world of work in Energy to their classrooms. Fellows will also receive professional development that would focus on science content and science inquiry. Contact Pat Dung at the UEP office at (213) 622-5237.
